As of August 2, a number of mobile teams of doctors, such as endocrinologists, ophthalmologists, neurologists and cardiologists, will travel to all the villages in the country to examine citizens free of charge. The nationwide campaign “A doctor for you” was launched by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in a news conference, IPN reports.

“A doctor for you” is a campaign within which dozens of doctors will travel to villages to provide free services to citizens. Health is a priority for us. One of the problems faced by the people is the lack of doctors in villages. I want to assure you that the government knows what it should do to solve this problem,” stated Pavel Filip.

As part of this campaign, over 100 doctors will provide consultations in six villages a week. “We will offer dental consultations for children. The doctors will go to kindergartens first and then to the other children in the village. We will offer free radiological examinations and special attention will be devoted to the identification of cases of tuberculosis and cancer,” said the Premier.

The campaign is supported by the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu”. “The University will take part with professors of the clinical department and with residents and will do this with big responsibility. Under the program of training for residents, during six months in the third and fourth years of studies these are obliged to practice in villages. They gain the necessary experience when they work in rural areas,” stated the University’s rector Ion Ababii.

The first six villages that will be visited by doctors are Horesti (Ialoveni), Hrusova (Criuleni), Bulboaca (Anenii Noi), Cosnita (Dubasari), Gura Galbenei (Cimislia) and Cojusna (Straseni).
