The medical trucks outfitted with breast and lung cancer screening equipment that were presented by Prime Minister Pavel Filip on October 11 as part of the program “A doctor for you” will be used after the program is completed as well.
In a response to an inquiry made by IPN, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection said the four mobile radiological complexes were purchased for implementing the National Cancer Control Program for 2016-2025. Thus, at least until 2025 the medical vehicles will travel to localities to provide screening services.
The mobile radiological complexes were bought with money from the fund for developing and modernizing the public providers of mandatory medical assistance services.
A mobile complex for lung radiography cost 3.2 million lei, while a complex for mammography 4.6 million lei. The four trucks were purchased at the price of 17.2 million lei. The vehicles will be managed by the Oncological Institute.
