A mobile application that will enable to listen to the station Radio Patrin in real time will be created and launched during the next nine months. The application could be downloaded to an Android mobile device or on the calculator from Google Play.

In a news conference at IPN, Radio Patrin founder Victorina Luca said the application will facilitate access to the broadcasts of Radio Patrin. This was designed with the support of an international organization.

The station also plans to produce a new radio program designed to promote the Roma women. The program will be broadcast live once a week. During an hour, together with invited experts, there will be discussed leadership-related issues, involvement of young people and women in community life. These subjects will contribute to accumulating knowledge about the Roma community’s civic participation. The listeners will be able to call in or to send messages and questions for invitees live.

Victorina Luca said Radio Patrin was registered in Moldova in 2016. It is an online radio station that promotes the Romanian language and social programs for minorities, centering especially on the Roma community in Moldova. The radio station can be listened to on www.radiopatrin.md.

“Radio Patrin is an independent radio station and is the voice of the Roma community. It is a radio station that centers first of all on the human rights. This is our view and our goal – to promote them and to diminish the stereotypes that exist in society at present,” stated Victorina Luca.

The founder of Radio Patrin noted that the stereotypes can be reduced by intercultural dialogue. A new mentality can be promoted. A society with children and young people who will know their rights and will respect the rights of the others can be developed. “This is very important as the Roma community wants to have a much more decent life than at present. We know about the existing analphabetism and the social and economic problems they face,” noted Victorina Luca.

Radio Patrin broadcasts not only social programs, but also different genres of music, such as old traditional Romani music and new music.
