Misunderstandings between interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan and the communist faction in the Municipal Council (MC) that, in other respects, had earlier advanced him from communist councillor to vice mayor of the capital. On Tuesday, April 3, PCRM faction did not support the idea to include in the MC agenda an item proposed by Veaceslav Iordan, which requested to operate amendments and abrogate certain decisions of MC regarding the granting on lease of a number of plots of land on Independentei street in Botanica district. The mayor argued the necessity of this decision by the fact that a trolleybus line started to be built on Independentei Street, according to a previous MC decision. In retort, communist councillor Valeri Pavlov stated that this matter must be examined in detail and that PCRM faction will vote against. Only 16 councillors of other factions have backed the idea to include the respective item in the agenda. They did not gather the necessary number of votes to examine the item on Tuesday. Interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan had a negative reaction to the vote of the communist councillors, leaving the sitting hall for several minutes. When the interim mayor returned, Valeri Pavlov withdrew his proposal and the draft decision was included in the agenda and approved. At the end of the sitting, Veaceslav Iordan told reporters that it was about a “misunderstanding”.
