Russia does not have the necessary military resources to attack the Republic of Moldova. Instead, “an all-out hybrid war” in a presidential election year is in Russia’s interest, Deputy Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) Mircea Geoană stated during the LIVE show with Rotaru and Kiss on Digi24, IPN reports.

“Russia does not have the military resources to attack Moldova. You know well that the original plan was to occupy Kiev, occupy Odessa, encircle Transnistria and trap Ukraine. That was the original plan. It failed,” said Mircea Geoană.

The NATO Deputy Secretary General noted that from a military point of view, Moldova has no reason to worry, but “an all-out hybrid war” is possible as “this is of vital interest for Russia” in the context of the presidential election in Moldova.

“That’s why the Republic of Moldova is a common partner of NATO and the European Union. We work together, including in the fight against disinformation, and we help those in the Republic of Moldova to have increased resilience to cyberattacks, disinformation and, obviously, to Russia’s desperate attempt, through “rats” in the Republic of Moldova, to stop the pro-European path of the Republic of Moldova,” stated the NATO official.

Mircea Geoană also said that Romania and he, as an international political leader, want Moldova and Ukraine to integrate into Europe. “Such a chance for a country like the Republic of Moldova comes only twice a century. It was a chance during the first war in Transnistria. It went as it went. It happened as it happened. That was it. This is the second chance” concluded the NATO Deputy Secretary General.
