“Twenty years ago, we voted for Moldova's independence from the Soviet Government, not for independence from Romania,” said Mircea Druc, who had been Prime Minister in 1990 – 1991. The Communists Party should be outlawed for good as such parties do not exist anymore and should not exit in Chisinau as well. Mircea Druc made the statement at the solemn sitting of the Parliament on April 26, where former and current MPs came together to restore the Declaration of Independence, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mircea Druc said that Moldovan has been largely stagnant during the last 20 years, since the constitution of the first democratic Parliament. “The Declaration of Independence burned out of carelessness. The Communists were outlawed, but they returned even if the mankind condemned the fascism and communism. The political elite must outlaw them for good,” the former Premier said. Mircea Druc is one of the 278 signatories of the Declaration of Independence. “I came to sign the Declaration once again. I make common cause with my Bessarabian colleagues. I am a unionist as I consider that Moldova should return to its place in the Romanian space,” he said. Mircea Druc had been chairman of the Council of Ministers (Prime Miniser – e.n.) of the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic between May 25, 1990 and May 28, 1991. He is in favor of the reunion of Bessarabia, Northern Bucovina, Hertsa Region and Romania.
