Mircea cel Bătrân Blvd in Ciocana district of Chisinau will be extended to Bucovinei St during the next five years. Two other important arteries, Industrială and Mesager streets, are to be modernized. This is a large-scale project, said mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban, whose electoral program for the second term stimulated such a project, IPN reports.
"We know that the people want a new and modern infrastructure here, at home. That is why we continue to place an increased emphasis on the repair of the main arteries, secondary streets, sidewalks and access roads to educational and social institutions and in the courtyards of apartment buildings," the mayor said at a press conference.
According to him, in the last year alone, tens of kilometers of roads have been repaired and modernized, on Decebal Boulevard, Alba Iulia St, Mircea cel Bătrân Blvd, Vistirniceni road junction, Renașterii - Calea Orheiului road junction, Ciuflea St and other streets.
"The priority for the next five years is the large-scale project proposed in the electoral program a year ago and awaited by all residents, which aims to expand and modernize three main arteries: Mircea cel Bătrân Blvd, Industrială St and Mesager St. We recently signed the pre-financing agreement with development partners. It is an ambitious project to modernize the road infrastructure in the city," said Ion Ceban.
The mayor noted that the project covers roads that will contribute to the fluidization of urban traffic, will ensure connections to areas under development or to be developed and will offer modern solutions for the Republic of Moldova and for Chisinau, according to European and international quality standards necessary for the city.
"This project that was long awaited by the municipality and the inhabitants of Chisinau has a considerable value. Over 1.1 billion lei is to be invested in the development of urban road infrastructure," stated the mayor of the capital city.
Ion Ceban was elected mayor general in the November 2019 local elections and was re-elected for a new term a year ago.
