A youngster was severely injured in a traffic accident in Chisinau on Wednesday, August 20. Ion Roscovanu, the head of the PR Unit of the General Police Commissariat, has told Info-Prim Neo that the 11-year-old student of school No.86 was struck by a Renault-Clio driven by a woman aged 22 in Buiucani sector. The boy was admitted to Valentin Ignatenco Hospital with fracture of the occipital bone, mental shock and different excoriations and contusions of the soft tissues. Only the cars were damaged in the 22 minor road accidents that also happened in Chisinau on August 20. The traffic police officers drew up 107 reports, including 3 for driving under the influence of alcohol and by 11 for speeding and ignoring traffic lights. Yesterday and last night, the ambulance service dealt with 723 calls, including 73 cases of acute viral infections, 70 cases of traumas, 7 brain strokes and 3 heart attacks.
