Ministry of Internal Affaires to create a database on migration and a data processing system

A migrational database and a Data processing system will be created under the Ministry of Internal Affaires (MAI). Thus, via adjusting the legislative frame to international standards in the domain of migration, estimating flows, developing informational technologies in migration management and examining visa regime, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission will contribute to the increase of the ministry’s capacity to manage migrational flows. An Additional Agreement to the Memorandum signed on June 14, 2004, between the Ministry of Internal Affaires of the R. of Moldova and the IOM Mission has been signed on Monday, by the deputy minister of Internal Affairs, Sergiu Golovaci, and the head of the IOM mission in the R. of Moldova, Martin Wyss. According to MAI, the purpose of the agreement is to expand the action frame of the Memorandum on implementing the project “Capacity Building for Developing Migration Management Procedures and Migration Policies in the Republic of Moldova”. In turn, MAI will contribute to the implementation of the project through the Migration Bureau in cooperation with IOM and other bodies in charge of the central public administration of the R. of Moldova.
