The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) will be able to order the cessation of access to criminal web content. This is content that promotes child abuse, pornography, or when it comes to marketing of prohibited products. This is provided in a draft law that was given a final reading by Parliament, IPN reports.
The cessation of access to the web page containing information intended and used for the preparation or commission of crimes can be ordered for a period of 30 days, with the possibility of extending the term, but for not more than 90 days. The order to cease access to the website or remove the online content from the source can be challenged in court.
Also, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be empowered to preserve computer data until the start of the criminal investigation. This will allow to implement the Council of Europe Convention on Cybercrime. The essence of computer data retention consists in preventing the disappearance of computer data with probative value, after their alteration or deletion, including following the expiry of the legal term for data retention regarding computer traffic, which is of six months.
The legislative changes will enter into force in three months of the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
