Ministry of Emergencies might be created in Moldova

Moldovan specialists will work out a flood prevention plan, under a decision taken by the Supreme Defense Council on July 23, Info-Prim Neo reports. Premier Vlad Filat does not rule out that a Ministry of Emergencies could be created in Moldova. “We will analyze the institutional component later. The experts are now to formulate a plan of action,” Filat said after the meeting. “The previous Governments did not have a plan of action to prevent floods. In 2008, such a plan did not exist either,” said Acting President Mihai Ghimpu. The costs for drawing up the plan will be covered with money from European funds. Mihai Ghimpu said he will also seek help from Romania and Ukraine. In a ceremony to hand over the humanitarian aid in the amount of $250,000 offered by the U.S. Government on July 22, Vlad Filat said he will ask the U.S. authorities to delegate experts to work with Moldovan specialists on a plan of action for dealing with calamities.
