The Ministry of Defense hasn’t yet confirmed or refuted the reports about the alleged sale of elements of military equipment by a member of the joint peacekeeping forces. Contacted by IPN for details, Ala Diaconu, press officer of the Ministry of Defense, said that an administrative investigation was launched into this case to verify the information. The Ministry of Defense will provide details after the investigation is completed.

According to unofficial reports, the head of the Peacekeeping Battalion of Brigade No.1 sold property of the National Army through an announcements website, such as military uniforms, elbow pads ad kneepads.

In a press release, the Ministry of Defense said that Minister Anatolie Nosatyi on February 10 paid a working visit to the Security Zone in Varnița village of Anenii Noi district to familiarize himself with the situation on the spot and to meet National Army soldiers doing their military service in the locality. “Anatolie Nosatyi visited the Independent Infantry Brigade of the Peacekeeping Forces in Varnița, where he discussed the service conditions and the difficulties faced in missions in the Security Zone with peacekeepers,” said the quoted source.
