A number of cultural events will be financed with money from the state budget this year, some of which for the first time, acting Minister of Culture Monica Babuc told a news conference. These events include the International Theater and Film Schools Festival “ClassFest”, the Anim’est Chisinau Festival, and the summer concerts of the Chisinau Youth Orchestra, IPN reports.
The applicants for financing submitted the documents at a contest. The total value of the projects amounted to over 18 million lei at a time when the allocations from the state budget total only 2 million lei. A number of 62 projects were chosen to be financed.
“We used the principle fewer, but better. We hope that this year the projects will be more visible and will have a greater impact. These are projects that really meet the spiritual needs of society and are required by time,” stated Monica Babuc.
She noted that the financing for visual arts, cinematography and music were increased. At the same time, the financing for projects from other fields of culture was kept at the same level as in 2014 or was decreased.
The largest financing will be allocated for music projects – 570,000 lei. The cultural events that will be staged in communities will be financed with 295,000 lei. The lowest financing, of 90,000 lei and, respectively, 100,000 lei will be offered for projects from the areas of people’s arts and cultural heritage.
