Nine MPs who were appointed ministers, including Prime Minister Vlad Filat, will hand over their seats within 30 days. Meanwhile, they can attend the parliamentary sittings, jurist Stefan Creanga told Info-Prim Neo.
According to the jurist, when the 30-day-period expires the Parliament will declare the nine posts of MP vacant and will ask the Central Election Commission to initiate the procedure for validating the substitute candidates. The list of substitutes have been already approved by the Constitutional Court.
During a program on the public TV channel Moldova 1, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that he will hand over his seat of MP early next week and will not participate in the next sitting of the Parliament.
Vlad Filat also said that the first vice president of the Liberal Democratic Party Mihai Godea will take over as leader of the party's parliamentary group instead of him.
The parliamentary group of the Liberal Party also remained without a leader as Anatol Salaru was named Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure. Liberal MP Boris Vieru has told Info-Prim Neo that they will decide who will head their parliamentary group at a meeting on September 28.
The other MPs have not yet announced when they will hand over. Under the legislation, the MPs cannot hold two paid posts simultaneously.
