Ministers pay working visits to different countries as part of delegations

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan will visit Japan at the start of next week, while Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Constantin Mihailescu will go to Geneva in Switzerland to take part in the third Regional Implementation Forum on Sustainable Development. Minister of Economy and Trade Igor Dodon will pay an official visit to Cyprus, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, while in Tokyo (January 29-31) the Moldovan Foreign Minister will meet with his Japanese counterpart Masahiko Komura to discuss the present relations between Moldova and Japan and the prospects of developing them. The two officials will also confer on the present international situation. The visit agenda also includes meetings with member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Japan Business Federation, the Japanese External Trade Organisation and of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. On January 28-29, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Constantin Mihailescu will participate in the third Regional Implementation Forum on Sustainable Development organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. Mihailescu will chair the meetings of the Regional Forum, the Ecology Ministry informs in a communique. The Forum’s participants will discuss issues related to environment protection, climate changes, agriculture, drought, desertification, rural development etc. They will assess the progress in implementing the sustainable development objectives in the mentioned areas, will identify the obstacles and constraints and will discuss the future challenges and further activities aimed at solving these problems. Ministers and senior officials of the Governments of the Member States of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, representatives of financial international organisations will attend. On January 28-30, Minister of Economy and Trade Igor Dodon will visit the Republic of Cyprus on the invitation of the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Cyprus Antonis Michaelides. The two ministers will sign the Convention for Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income and Capital Gains with the aim of fostering the commercial-economic relations between the two states.
