The simple motion against Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Stela Grigoras was rejected. The Socialist MPs, who submitted the motion, said the situation is worrisome, in particular as regards retirement, IPN reports.

Presenting a report in Parliament, Stela Grigoras said that in her work she focuses on the implementation of policies aimed at increasing social benefits, employing those who are out of work, reforming the pension system, etc.

Accused that unemployment rose during her term in office, Stela Grigoras said there were over 74,000 jobless people in the first quarter of this year, but the given figure is by 12% lower than in the corresponding period last year. The number of unemployed persons is higher among young people because these go through a more uncertain period when they finish the studies and must find a job.

Replying to the criticism of MPs, the minister invited these publicly to come to the Ministry for being informed, noting that their team is ready for discussions and for identifying solutions.

In her speech, Communist MP Oxana Domenti said the number of persons who daily emigrate from Moldova or die is higher than the number of newborns. If such trends persist, in 20 years the country will remain with only 1/3 of the current population. The team of the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family didn’t have a good start.

A number of 24 MPs voted in favor of dismissing the minister. The simple motion could have been adopted by the votes of at least 37 MPs, which was a majority of those attending.
