“I hope that I can afford to express my point of view when I am supported by the entire educational system, by members of the cultural community and when I am responsible for their health,” stated Minister of Education Igor Șarov in reply to Igor Dodon's warning that he could dismiss following his critical remarks.

Minister Igor Șarov criticized the Moldovan president for not wearing a protective mask and for not keeping his social distance at an educational institution event, which involved several students and teachers.

“I cannot comment on President Dodon's statement, since I have previously expressed my point of view on this matter. We live in a democratic society, where everyone is entitled to their point of view. We leave it to the citizens to judge to what extent public officials are correct,” said Igor Șarov during a N4 television show.

In addition to criticizing the president, the minister was disturbed by an event that took place at the Hiliuți Village School, Fălești district. Several politicians, representatives of the educational institution and two students inaugurated a bathroom, while not complying with anti-COVID-19 regulations.

“I filed a complaint with the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) requesting the punishment for a misdemeanor. This is outrageous and we will put a stop to such actions. As a minister, I will not allow electoral propaganda on school grounds, especially during a pandemic,” said Igor Șarov.

The minister said that these events were in violation with ANSP decisions and that the Ministry will prohibit the access of outsiders to educational institutions and will ban activities not related to the educational process.
