Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean said he will request the company that erected the attic-like apartments on a building in Buicani district, where a part of the roof collapsed last night, to cover the costs for the intervention works. If the company does not do it, it will be sued, IPN reports.

On a social networking site, the minister wrote that 12 employees, special equipment and vehicles were involved in the works to remove the other part of the roof that could fall down. The intervention works were assessed at 30,000 lei. “I think it’s not right for these costs to be covered with money from the public budget. The people who pay taxes should not pay the price of the works to liquidate a risk created by an irresponsible private company,” said Dorin Recean.

Head of the Centru Construction Inspectorate Ion Popa has told IPN that the incident will be examined by the attestation commission of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction. It will establish who is to blame for the negligence of the technical norms in constructions.

A part of the roof of a building with attic-like apartments located on Alba Iulia St in Buiucani district of Chisinau fell down in the evening of January 27. A police patrol and representatives of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service went to the scene and fenced the place. Nobody was hurt.
