Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu accused Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean of being drunk when he overturned the vehicle on June 12 and suggested creating a special commission for investigating the circumstances of the road accident, IPN reports.
Valeriu Munteanu said they are trying to hush this case up, presenting incorrect information as if the officials (deputy minister Veaceslav Ceban was also in the car) travelled at a speed of 65 kilometers per hour. “They had been at a bash and caused the accident because they were speeding while under the influence,” stated the MP.
Head of Parliament Igor Corman didn’t put the creation of the commission to the vote, saying the Standing Bureau will later decide whether to include the proposal in the agenda or not.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of the Interior, the accident happened at about 18.30 on June 12. The vehicle driven by Dorin Recean overturned after a tire burst. The driver and the passenger had the seatbelts on.
The car travelled at a speed of 65 km per hour. The two officials were returning from a working meeting with heads of the Ministry of the Interior’s subdivisions in Telenesti, Orhei, Rezina, Soldanesti, and Criuleni. The alcoholmeter showed Dorin Recean hadn’t drunk alcoholic beverages.
