Minister of Internal Affairs revenges for his fake university certificate – PRO TV

PRO-TV Chisinau channel considers that the arrest of the station’s sales manager, Ghenadie Braghis is a put-up affair of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a response to the journalistic investigation regarding the fake high education diploma of the minister Gheorghe Papuc and it is an attempt of MIA to destroy the credibility of this independent TV station. The declarations were made at Sunday’s news hour. PRO-TV Chisinau condemns the arrest of Ghenadie Braghis and requests his release. Ghenadie Braghis was denounced by a potential client. He announced the law enforcement bodies that the sales manager asked a bribe of USD 1000. The policemen made 4 searches at the PRO-TV Chisinau office and two in the house of the suspect, looking for clues. On Sunday, the Court of Rascani district issued a warrant for the arrest of Ghenadie Braghis for a 10 day period for “bribery”. After 3 days spent in detention, with rights’ violation, the sales manager was arrested on the grounds of a decision of the court. The judges justified their decision by the fact that the suspect has Romanian passport and “could leave the country”. The court did not take into consideration the fact that both Moldovan and Romanian passports were confiscated by policemen. PRO-TV Chisinau team protests against the arrest of their colleague and says that they will use all the leverages to prove his innocence, including appealing to international bodies. PRO-TV declares that the detention and the arrest of Ghenadie Braghis violate the legislations and considers that MIA aims, as in the case of “Accente” newspaper, at liquidating this TV station. The legal representatives of Braghis, Vlad Rosca and Ion Dascalu did not have any access to their client during those 3 days of detention. They say that they will appeal the superior court because there are no legal grounds for the detention and arrest of Braghis. Also, the lawyers say that they presented serious arguments in favor of applying other measures than arrest and presented special guarantees for bail’s payment, but they were not heard by the judges. The sales manager of PRO-TV Chisinau was brought to the Court in a police vehicle with MAI 1217 plates, and was escorted by 25 masked policemen. They violated the journalists’ rights to enter a public building blocking the door of Rascani Court’s hallway. During the 2 hour lawsuit, unknown persons filmed the journalist, relatives and friends of Ghenadie Braghis who stood in front of the closed door. The representative of the Prosecution Office refused to offer any information related to the case, claiming professional secrets.
