The list of Moldovan officials who were banned access to Russia includes Minister of Home Affairs Ana Revenco and MPs of the Party of Action and Soldiery Olesea Stamate, Oazu Nantoi and Lilian Carp. The latter commented on the decision, saying that this is a frustrating reaction of Moscow following the banning of particular functionaries from entering the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
“I should be clear to everyone: I do not intend to go to the Russian Federation as long as there is the criminal regime of Putin - this criminal regime that attacked Ukraine and caused tens of thousands of casualties in Ukraine, destroyed the economy and the country on the whole. I condemned and will further condemn the acts of terrorism committed by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine,” said Lilian Carp, who heads the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order.
The MP noted that it is not for the first time that Russia resorts to hostile actions in relation to the Republic of Moldova and tried to use also economic instruments, in the form of bans, etc. The ban on entry into Russia for Lilian Carp and his mates was imposed because they are the authors of legislative initiatives to ban separatism. The minister of home affairs was put on the list because the Border Police didn’t allow particular functionaries to enter Moldova as the goal of their visit wasn’t clear.
On Tuesday morning, Moldova’s Ambassador in Moscow Lilian Darii was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was informed about the declaring of a Moldovan diplomat persona non-grata by the authorities of the Russian Federation and the banning of a number of Moldovan officials from entering Russia in response to Chisinau’s decision to subscribe to the European Union’s sanctions against Russian citizens.
