The Minister of Education urged the rectors of Moldovan universities to reject students with diplomas issued by Gagauz authorities.
“The diplomas issued by the authorities from Comrat aren’t legal and university rectors can’t break the law. This is why I launched this appeal”, said Minister Mihail Sleahtitchi, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Vera Balova, head of Gagauzia’s Education Department, told our agency that these diplomas would allow students who failed the Romanian exam to be admitted to higher education institutions and to repeat the exam next year.
“We made this decision to help our graduates, if the Ministry didn’t do it. Many youths have already applied for studies abroad and need the diploma of lyceum graduation”, said Vera Balova.
The executive committee of Gagauzia approved its own model of baccalaureate diploma after 45 graduates failed the Romanian Language and Literature exam.
Previously, the Ministry of Education announced that graduates who missed or failed an exam would be able to continue their studies only in crafts schools and professional lyceums. They can be admitted in universities only next year after repeating the failed exams.
