Topical subjects from the Moldovan-American bilateral cooperation agenda were discussed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi with Ambassador Philip T. Reeker, a senior official responsible for European and Eurasian affairs at the U.S. Department of State. The officials ascertained good cooperation in the political and economic sectors and in the offering of assistance to Moldova in the process of implementing democratic reforms, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Moldovan diplomat took note of the U.S. Government’s concerns over the recent events that occurred in Moldova’s Parliament, related to the abrogation of legislation that authorized the sale of the site of the former Republican Stadium to the U.S. for construction of a New Embassy Compound.
The officials also conferred on the Transnistrian conflict settlement. Aureliu Ciocoi underlined the importance of the talks held in the “5+2” format and the necessity of organizing a result-centered meeting in this format as swiftly as possible in 2021.
