The MPs gave a fist reading to a bill that stipulates minimum mandatory energy efficiency requirements in the case of new buildings and buildings subject to major renovation. It is also envisioned the certifying of energy performance of buildings and the informing of dwellers and managers of buildings or potential buyers about the energy performance of buildings, IPN reports.

The bill drafted by the Ministry of Energy aims to regulate the mechanism for inspecting the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems by energy assessors. These specialists will offer consultancy in the field, being registered with the Energy Efficiency Agency.

The bill will provide the framework needed to create the national information system in the field of energy performance of buildings in order to implement the strategy for renovating the national housing sector and the national plan for increasing the number of buildings whose energy consumption is almost equal to zero.

The draft law stipulates the obligation to set up the infrastructure needed for charging electric vehicles in nonresidential and residential buildings.

The bill is to be given a final reading.
