The Chisinau administration should impose on the minibus route administrators the same work conditions as for the public transport, considers the head of the public association “Road Safety in Moldova” Ilie Bricicaru. Contacted by IPN, he said that some of the minibus drivers violate passengers’ rights. “More minibuses run in the rush hour, while in the evening there are no units of transport in some sectors,” stated Ilie Bricicaru.
According to him, the work program for minibus drivers should be reviewed and monitored strictly. Ilie Bricicaru considers that the withdrawal of the authorization when the rules are not obeyed should be a lesson for the other minibus drivers. “There are a lot of companies and private individuals who have appropriate units of transport and can replace them,” he stated, adding that a solution is also to increase the number of trolleybus routes.
In a meeting of the Chisinau City Hall officials earlier, acting head of the Public Transport and Communications Division Igor Gamretski said the drivers should think not only about profit, but also about the people. He stated that the minibus drivers often do not obey the schedule and run more often in the rush hour.
