A minibus carrying a Moldovan family with seven children overturned off the road at the exit from Adjudu Vechi to Homocea in Vrancea County in Romania. The Vrancea Inspectorate for Emergency Situations informed about the activation of a Red Intervention Plan on the spot, IPN reports.

“Given the number of people involved, the Red Intervention Plan was activated in Vrancea County in order to optimize the response mission. A fire truck, four SMURD ambulances, an extrication crew, an advanced medical team and three ambulances of the County Ambulance Service were urgently dispatched to the scene. The road accident resulted in nine victims who received medical care on the spot and eight of them were subsequently transported to the hospital for examinations,” said the Vrancea Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.

The Romanian press reported that a family consisting of two adults and seven children aged between one and a half and 14 years, all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, traveled on the minibus heading to the Republic of Moldova. The father, the driver, refused to be taken to the hospital.

Also on Monday, a minibus running on the Bucharest-Chisinau route with 17 people aboard overturned between Gara Berheci and Priponești localities in Romania’s Galati County. Only one passenger, a 55-year-old woman, who complained of abdominal pain, was transported to the hospital. The rest of the passengers were picked up by another minibus provided by the transport company. Preliminary investigations showed that the driver, a 40-year-old man with dual citizenship, Romanian and Moldovan, lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered road amidst strong winds. The vehicle allegedly skidded off the roadway and overturned.
