Milsami Orhei are the new holders of the Moldovan Supercup. On Sunday, July 8, the Eagles obtained their second trophy in the club’s history after winning on penalties 6-5 against Sheriff Tiraspol, on the latter’s pitch, Info-Prim Neo reports. In May, Milsami won the Moldovan Cup, also on penalties. Although the Moldovan champions dominated the game, the regular time ended 0-0 thanks to great saves pulled by Milsami goalkeeper Adrian Negai. The winner was decided on penalties, where Milsami showed more nerve. They missed only one in 7 kicks, while Sheriff failed to hit the net twice. “I wish we won all the trophies on penalties”, Milsami’s coach Serghei Clescenco joked after the match. “We have only ourselves to blame. We failed to make the most of the numerous chances we created. We have a week until European cups and we must work to improve in this area”, Sheriff coach Milan Milanovic told the press. Despite the loss, the Tiraspol-based side remain the most successful team in the history of the competition, with four Supercups in their trophy cabinet. The first round of the national football championship will be played between July 13 and 15. Sheriff will host FC Costuleni and Milsami will travel to Academia Chisinau.
