Milsami Orhei lost the return match too to Albania’s champion Skenderbeu, failing thus to qualify for the playoffs of the UEFA Champions League. As in Chisinau, the ‘red eagles’ were beaten by 0-2, IPN reports.
Portuguese referee Artur Soares Dias eliminated Gheorghe Andronic in the 14th minute, when a yellow card was actually required. In two minutes, the Albanian team opened the score through Salihi. Milsami could have tied through Artur Patras, who hit the bar, and Karlo Belak, who could not trick the goalkeeper. Progni set the final score in the 55th minute.
“We didn’t get a chance to score. Even with ten players on the field, we showed that we can create clear occasions for scoring,” Milsami coach Iurie Osipenco told a news conference.
Milsami will continue to compete in the playoffs of Europa League. The draw will be held on August 7.
