The band “Millenium” marked 15 years of activity by a concert given at the National Palace in the evening of March 29. The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon, who initiated the campaign “I Love Moldova”, said the sponsoring of this event by them has no political subtext. “This year, we have cooperated with “Millenium” and hope that this cooperation will continue. This band makes Moldova famous abroad. I think the singers are the best emissaries,” said Igor Dodon, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The concert included the best songs of the band’s repertoire since 1997 until present, such ballads and folk songs of the first generation as “Doina”, “Rain”, “Wonderful Dream”, and “Northern Star”. Soloist Olga Gorchinski said the first generation laid the foundations of a professional band. The band’s manager Vlad Gorgos said the nicest moment of the concert was when it was announced that “Millenium” was ready to raise the fourth generation of professional singers and children from the hall mounted the stage. “After 15 years, we feel very strong. We are ready to bring up new generations of good singers,” he stated, adding that the concert was dedicated also to children from orphanages situated in Carpineni, Stefan Voda and Falesti. Attending the concert, the initiator of the campaign “I Love Moldova” Igor Dodon thanked “Millenium” for promoting Moldova’s image at national and foreign levels. He said he will always support this band because it knows how to combine the national spirit of the Moldovans and modernism. Since 1997, “Millenium” has had dozens of pupils, including Nicoleta Cotorobai, who took part in the band’s anniversary concert. Among the invitees was Petre Toma – the former soloist of the band “Plai”. “Millenium” was founded by Vlad Gorgos in 1997. The band gives 50-70 concerts a year, takes part in international and national contests and festivals and raised three generations of singers.
