On the occasion of the Recruit’s Day, the National Army staged a concert in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau in a move to persuade the young people not to avoid doing the military service. During this year’s spring-summer drafting campaign, 214 young men are to be conscripted into the army, IPN reports.
Those who came to the central square of Chisinau were able to watch training exercises presented by the personnel of the Guard of Honor and fighting demonstrations shown by the special subunits of the National Army and the Carabineer Troops Department.
The military brass band gave a performance. There were presented uniforms and special equipment of the National Army and the Carabineer Troops Department and military vehicles and was mounted an exhibition of photographs on military themes.
Alexandru Vieru, deputy commander of the Carabineer Troops, said this event contributes to the promotion of the armed forces. “The army is a duty and also an honor. It is a school of bravery and those who did their military service prove this. A military career means more than a job. The service members serve the nation,” he stated.
Brigade general in reserve Vasile Grosu, who took part in the war for defending the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, said it is the duty of men to do the military service and defend the homeland and family. Even if Moldova has a small army, the responsibilities are the same as in the case of larger armies.
Deputy minister of defense Gheorghe Galbura expressed his respect for the future recruits, assuring them that they will learn the military art and discipline and will establish sustainable friendships during the 12 months of military service.
After completion of military service, those who will want will be able to work in the troops of the Ministry of the Interior on a contract basis.
