Security expert Rosian Vasiloi warned about the intensification of military exercises on the left side of the Nistru, saying that drills were staged there during January 15-21, including with shootings from all types of weapons possessed by the Operational Group of Russian Forces, IPN reports.
According to Rosian Vasiloi, there were held six events, four of which form part of the fighting class and one of the common fighting and humanitarian class. An exercise to handle anti-tank guided missiles started forcefully last week and sources of the expert in the region confirmed that this exercise involved personnel of the so-called ministry of defense of the secessionist region. One day later, the Operational Group of Russian Forces staged another military drill that involved about 50 service members of grenade launcher units and these shot at targets that imitate the infantry in offensive and armored tanks of the enemy.
The expert said these exercises were held including during the meeting of Sub-Committee on Conflict between Council of Europe Member States, where the Moldovan authorities “assisted” again the separatist authorities of Transnistria in promoting the pretended independence. Rosian Vasiloi said the common interests of the elites in Chisinau and Tiraspol enable the separatists to reach international rostrums. In the case of last week’s military drills, as in the other cases, the Moldovan authorities didn’t react when the alert was issued.
