Mikhail Podolyak, a top adviser to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, said that Kyiv trusts the Republic of Moldova and consdiers it a friend. Ukraine understands why the official Chisinau refused to subscribe to the Western policies against Russia given Moldova’s dependence on Russian gas. Ukraine should bring this war to an end by discouraging the expansionist policy of Russia or the Kremlin will try to take revenge on other states in two-five years, IPN reports.

The adviser accused Russia of atrocities against the peaceful population of Ukraine and said that Moscow is deeply frustrated by the incompetence shown by the Russian army. After failing to occupy Kyiv, the Russian Federation now concentrates its military in Donbas and the fighting in the immediate period will take place in eastern Ukraine.

“The Russian Federation showed that it is unable to fight honestly and is now fighting against peaceful civilians. They use the Syrian tacit. They surround cities, attack them massively by air strikes and unarmed civilians suffer. I think the countries of the world should become more actively involved to stop these crimes. We have an army and will drive the occupants away, but we need heavy weapons to free the cities and we also need aircraft detection systems. We have people to maneuver such equipment. Our only request to the world is to give us arms as we didn’t invest so much in weapons as Russia did. This country prepared for war beforehand. It is now preparing for fighting in eastern Ukraine,” Mikhail Podolyak stated in the talk show “Shadow Cabinet” on JurnalTV channel.

The adviser noted a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia can take place only after the decisive battle in eastern Ukraine and this battle is not only for the freedom of his country, but also for the territorial integrity of other states. If Russia is not defeated now, its expansionist pretentions will become more accentuated.

“If we do not end this war right, Russia will maintain its aggressive policy and the war will break out again in Europe in two-five years and will have serious consequences. Europe should realize that we do not fight for the territorial integrity of Ukraine only. We fight against the expansionist policy of Russia as in five years Russia will learn the lesson of this war, will accumulate military potential and will attack not only Ukraine, but also other countries of the region. We trust Moldova and realize its difficult situation. Moldova has its own unsolved conflict – Transnistria. Moldova’s actions derive from its energy dependence. We would like all the cou
ntries to be harsh in relation to Russia, but we understand Moldova’s position not to support the sanctions policy. We consider Moldova our friend,” said Mikhail Podolyak.

Russia launched its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine on February 24, with Russian President Vladimir Putin announcing a “special military operation” to “demilitarize and denazify” Ukraine. Among the Kremlin’s conditions for stopping its military aggression against Ukraine are the country’s status of neutrality and the recognition of Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea.
