Deputy Parliament Speaker Mihail Popșoi said all the members of the government team worked very well and there are no preconditions for Cabinet reshuffles. According to him, the Government efficiently manages the energy, pandemic and economic crises and the fact that the people’s confidence in the Party of Action and Solidarity declined is normal. The head of the PAS group in Parliament said 2022 will be the year the justice sector reform will be continued so that its effects become visible for the people, IPN reports.

The Deputy Speaker said the whole government team works to full capacity even is some of the ministries are more visible, while others are less visible. The Executive is pressingly short of staff as the salaries in the public sector are low, while the workload is heavy.

“I do not see why changes in the Government should be made when my colleagues do their job. The work in the Government is titanic given the difficulties and problems that accumulated in government institutions, agencies, state-run enterprises. The ministers and the Prime Minister made an enormous sacrifice by endeavoring to forge resilience for these institutions not only to work, but to also deliver results. For a too long period of time, the state institutions worked on autopilot, closing the eyes when illegalities were committed.  Public administration is not among the most attractive areas, but our mates in these difficult conditions manage to do good things,” Mihail Popșoi stated in the talk show “The Forth Estate” on N4 channel.

The Deputy Speaker said the results of the last opinion polls, which show a decline in the citizens’ confidence in the ruling party, were predictable. After the power is taken over, it is impossible to immediately deliver results and the government needs at least a year for the people to feel the change promised by PAS.

“The citizens’ support declined naturally. After the colossal support given to us, it was normal for setbacks to exist. The difficult crises – gas, pandemic and economic ones – surely have a negative effect. The intricate reforms will be started next year. The justice sector reform already began. The digitization process is not yet seen, but it started. The reforms will be launched swiftly so that results are also visible. The citizens justly want to see results. In a year, the citizens will be entitled to ask the government to account for what it did,” stated Mihail Popșoi.

As to ‘the cleaning of the system’ that was promised in the election campaign, Mihail Popșoi said only the incompetent persons are fired as a result of assessments. The PAS government does not abusively dismiss people as it aims to avoid situations when persons are reinstated in posts by court.
