The deputy chairman of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Mihai Popșoi said the bloc ACUM DA PAS will challenge in court the election outcome, especially the one in the Transnistrian region, as the elections there were rigged. He referred to the fact that thousands of citizens from the left side of the Nistru were brought to polling places to vote in an organized way, IPN reports.

“These votes cast at the 47 polling stations intended for our compatriots from the Transnistrian region should be annulled. Only this way the elections can be regarded at least slightly free and fair,” Mihai Popșoi stated in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.

“Not speaking about the situation in the diaspora, where hundreds of thousands of compatriots who send remittances home each month for this country to be able to survive, were deprived of the right to take part in the elections,” said Mihai Popșoi, referring to the fact that the Moldovans abroad could not vote with the expired passports even if they enjoyed this right earlier.

He also said the bloc ACUM keeps its word and in the next Parliament will not form an alliance with the Democratic Party or the Party of Socialists.

Romanian journalist Mădălin Necșuțu said the external pressure exerted on the bloc ACUM DA PAS should also be taken into account. “I don’t know if this is the most intelligent move. We saw in time that the PDM is an energy-consumptive party – those who get into its embrace can never escape. I don’t know if this helps it (e.n. the bloc ACUM) and it will definitely be condemned by its voters. I said from the start that the bloc ACUM should prepare for four years in the opposition. I saw no scenario, under the mixed system, according to which they could come to power,” he stated.

Political analyst Roman Mihăeș said yet it will be a mistake if the bloc ACUM DA PAS withdraws to the opposition and does not form a coalition with the PDM. The voters generated two pro-European parties: the bloc and the Democratic Party, the last being pro-Moldova and also pro-European. The two parties that formed the bloc will have separate groups in Parliament and the group of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” could have negotiations with the Socialists. By refusing to negotiate with the PDM, the bloc ACUM pushes the Democrats towards a coalition with the PSRM.

The preliminary results, with 100% of the votes cast in the February 24 elections being counted, show the Party of Socialists gained 35 seats of MP, the Democratic Party – 30, the electoral bloc ACUM – 26 and the Shor Party – seven. Three independent candidates also entered Parliament.
