The result of the no confidence motion was clear from the start both for the Party of Socialists and for the Party of Action and Solidarity. In the case of the PAS, MP Mihai Popșoi said the party he represents had yet hope, but also made approaches for the Chicu Government to be removed, IPN reports.

“Theoretically, things could have happened differently, but the scenario was clear from the start. We said not only once that as far as we know, from public information, the votes weren’t enough. Our arguments weren’t sufficient for some of our colleagues and became insufficient for our voters who asked us: Why aren’t there votes as someone says that there are enough votes. We then had to sign the motion because, as we said, a large part of our voters, were sure that votes actuality existed. It was then harder to explain to the supporters as it looked more like an excuse: What are you doing? Are you playing the game of the Socialists? Do you support this government?” Mihai Popșoi stated in the program “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

The Deputy Parliament Speaker said the PAS was aware that there weren’t enough votes, but through the agency of discussions with the PDM tried to find the necessity votes.

The representative of the government coalition, Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea accused the opposition of staging a shameful show on the taxpayers’ money during the presentation of the no confidence motion. He noted that Marina Tauber and Sergiu Sîrbu were leaders and the right supported them in all their approaches.

“It was evident, but if we speak about hope, our colleagues from the authentic opposition of the right put their hope in Candu and Shor. They were rejoicing like children when Candu and Shor attracted a new member from the Democratic Party. They showed this joy in the assembly hall and threatened us that they will soon have the necessary voters. They put their hope in Candu and Shor, but were unable to secure those votes even if they made attempts to corrupt MPs,” stated Vlad Batrîncea.

He noted that 12-14 applications from MPs who were contacted to be persuaded to leave their parties were registered with the Prosecutor General’s Office. Vlad Batrîncea underlined that the Party of Socialists continues to plead for snap parliamentary elections.
