Mihai Popșoi met with ambassadors of Finland, Austria, UK and Azerbaijan

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed the European integration process and also regional security with a number of ambassadors accredited in Chisinau, IPN reports.



The dialogue with the Ambassador of Finland Leena Liukkonen focused on the progress made by Moldova in the process of joining the European Union, regional security and recent developments in domestic policy. Strong commitment was expressed to continue the political dialogue, strengthen trade and cooperation relations in such areas as cybersecurity and energy security.



In the meeting with the UK’s Ambassador Fern Horine, Minister Mihai Popșoi thanked the UK for its firm commitment to support the Republic of Moldova in the context of the multiple challenges faced by Moldova, for the important support provided in priority areas, mentioning the interest of both sides to make use of such formats as the Political and Strategic Dialogue.



In the discussions with Austria’s Ambassador Stella Avallone, the Moldovan officials appreciated the dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue. The interlocutors stressed the countries’ good cooperation relations within international and regional organizations, noting the importance of the cooperation within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region whose rotating presidency is currently held by Austria.



Also, Mihai Popșoi welcomed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ulvi Bakhshaliyev, who recently took up his duties in Moldova. The interlocutors exchanged views on the current stage of the Moldovan-Azerbaijani relations, noting the active and consistent character of the bilateral dialogue, including at high level. They confirmed the readiness to continuously strengthen and diversify cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
