MP of the PAS group of the ACUM Bloc Mihai Popşoi said the resident EU ambassadors have the training and knowledge needed to perceive the realities in our country. If they have a differing opinion about the agenda of President Igor Dodon, this opinion is argued. In a press briefing, the MP said President Dodon’s attack on ambassadors is fully beyond the diplomatic practice, IPN reports.
Mihai Popşoi wondered what kind of President Igor Dodon is if he considers Moldova can this way overcome international isolation towards which he pushed it himself. The destruction of relations with the European partners will cause greater damage to the country. “Missis Sandu and her government during five months brought €100 million in grants, not loans to the country. No lei came to the country during the next months. If President Dodon continues to employ such an approach, no money will yet come,” stated the MP.
Mihai Popşoi said that as Moldova’s citizens, the ambassadors see what the President does: he violates the democratic norms. “He copies everything Plahotniuc did, from social projects to the foreign policy strategy. Dodon’s insinuation that the ambassadors sympathize with someone or play someone’s game is a serious insult for these,” he stated.
Contacted by IPN, Carmena Lupei, senior consultant at the Presidential Office’s Protocol and Communication Section, said the presidential institution will not comment on the MP’s statements.
In a new episode of the youtube program “President responds” last weekend, President Dodon said some of the ambassadors working in Moldova try to block the new government’s dialogue with Brussels and to misinform the European capitals. At least three-four ambassadors who deal with Moldova’s relations with the EU travel to different institutions, block ongoing projects and say that no money should be given to “this government”.
