Mihai Godea proposes nominal fees to solve parking issue in Chisinau

MP Mihai Godea, independent candidate for the Chisinau mayor’s seat, proposes nominal fees for parking. A bill to this effect will be submitted on Monday, May 23, to the Permanent Bureau of the Parliament. The initiative is just one of Godea’s electoral promises for a modern local economy, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The situation in Chisinau is alarming because of the increasing number of cars and the lack of parking space. It affects both public and private transport, drivers and pedestrians, as cars are often parked on the sidewalk. I’m sure my parliamentary colleagues will support this project”, reads a note to the bill. Godea wants a nominal fee for parking, which will be decided by the Parliament. “Even if it’s only 1 leu, we have 240.000 registered cars. If we get 12 lei per year for every car, we’ll be able to establish an initial fund for building parking lots. We’ll begin with blocks’ yards and then parking spaces near the roadways”, mentioned Mihai Godea. Besides parking fees, the candidate promises a sustainable development of the city through the elaboration and implementation of the integrated strategy of development and attracting investments. Mihai Godea wants to increase the municipal budget income by attracting extra-budgetary means, grants and foreign projects. He proposes a new taxing system for real estate, especially for private houses and luxury villas. The mayoral candidate stressed the need to cooperate with the State Fiscal Inspectorate in order to fight tax evasion. Mihai Godea presented his program for the economic development of Chisinau near the Bucuria Candy Factory. “Unlike some of my competitors, who choose ruins to present their electoral programs, we preferred to highlight the bright side of Chisinau, because our city has things to be proud of”, mentions Godea. Mihai Godea is number 14 in the ballot paper for the local elections in Chisinau.
