“I remain faithful to the reform objectives laid down in the government program and will support all the reform bills submitted to Parliament,” Mihai Godea said after the May 12 sitting of the legislative body.
In the sitting, Mihai Godea announced officially that he will be an unaffiliated lawmaker. “From today, I consider myself a plenipotentiary representative of the people. Until I am an unaffiliated MP, I will represent the ‘People’s Party’. It is a new status for me, but I think it will allow me to concentrate more on the parliamentary work,” said the former Liberal-Democrat lawmaker.
He changed his place in the Parliament’s assembly hall, moving to the back row of seats. “Such a decision was taken by the secretariat of the legislative body and the secretariat of the Liberal Democratic Party. Anyway, it is hard to feel fine in Moldova’s Parliament, no matter where your sit,” said the MP.
Mihai Godea left the Liberal Democratic Party on May 3. During only two days, he collected 13,000 signatures in his support and was registered as an independent runner in the Chisinau. mayoral elections. He is under No. 14 in the ballot.
Mihai Godea is the only unaffiliated MP in the 18th legislature.
