Mihai Godea defects from PLDM

First vice president of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Mihai Godea decided to leave the party. In a program on ProTV Chisinau channel on Tuesday evening, Godea said that from now on he will be an unaffiliated lawmaker, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“It is my right to leave the party. I defect from it not when it is experiencing difficulties or is in opposition. I leave in a period when the party can exists without problems,” said Mihai Godea.
The politician announced he will run independently for the post of mayor general of Chisinau. Until May 5, he is to submit at least 10,000 signatures in his support to the Chisinau District Electoral Council. Mihai Godea expressed his confidence that he will manage to collect the necessary number of signatures.
The MP stressed that if he is registered as runner, he will attack no electoral opponent, but will make revelations about the work of the parliamentary Opposition.
