The law enforcement bodies are asked to investigate the legitimacy of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin’s visit to Moldova. The request was made by unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea, who heads the Democratic Action Party (PAD). He considers that this visit represents direct attack on Moldova’s integrity, IPN reports.

Mihai Godea told a news conference that Dmitri Rogozin’s visit to Transnistria when the region marks the self-proclaimed independence is defiance of the Republic of Moldova. “Everyone realizes that Rogozin comes to manage the festivities in Tiraspol. The authorities become accomplices of these challenges. We are issuing a public warning. The Penal Code of Moldova penalizes measures taken with the aim of undermining the state’s sovereignty,” said Mihai Godea.

The MP also said that if the Moldovan authorities had verticality, they would send Rogozin back to the Kremlin as a persona non-grata. “Rogozin’s visit reveals that many Moldovan politicians lack the vertebral column,” stated Mihai Godea, adding that the official visit to Chisinau is only a possibility of legalizing Rogozin’s presence in Transnistria.

Dmitri Rogozin came to Chisinau at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar. He is to have a meeting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
