“It would be an adversity to hold a new constitutional referendum. This would be too much for Moldova,” first vice president of the PLDM Mihai Godea stated for the press on Thursday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The lawmaker said that if the crisis goes on, no political force will win the elections and Moldova will suffer the consequences. Earlier, Speaker Marian Lupu told the journalists that the idea of holding a constitutional referendum simultaneously with the local elections is a fresh idea and, if nee be, it will be discussed in the meetings of the Council of the Alliance for European Integration. In a TV program on Wednesday evening, the president of honor of the PDM Dumitru Diacov said the idea of holding a constitutional referendum simultaneously with the local elections, so that the people decide if they want the President to be elected in Parliament by 51 votes, may be put into practice. Under the law, the head of state is elected by 61 votes. The ruling alliance is two votes short.
