The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said that not all the recommendations of the EU concerning the package of laws on integrity are welcome. He developed the issue in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR-Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“The Europeans think in a different way. They do not know our realities. If we include all their recommendations in the package of anticorruption laws, we will endanger the lives of the Moldovan citizens. The incomes and owned property will be made public and the thieves will find out where the possessions are located. The reforms are reforms, corruption is corruption, but this does not mean that we must set fire to the whole village because of a villager,” said the Liberal heavyweight.

Mihai Ghimpu leveled criticism at the Western ambassadors for taking a harsh position on Moldova after the arrest of former Pemier Vlad Filat. “The bank frauds, the concession of the Airport and other offenses were committed before their eyes, but they didn’t take a position. But after Vlad Filat was arrested, they took a rather harsh position and left us to cope by ourselves,” he stated.

He also criticized the MEPs who put inconvenient questions to Prime Minister Pavel Filip during a visit to the European Parliament, in particular Cristian Preda, who asked the Premier about Plahotniuc. “This is an MP who thinks with the heart, not with the head. Seeing only evil everywhere is not good,” said Mihai Ghimpu.

The Liberals’ leader also accused the journalists of not being objective and impartial. “As work is to be done with the politicians, work is yet to be done with the journalists. These dare to offend a person and bear no responsibility as they hide behind the freedom of expression, while the right to reply of the offended person is ignored,” stated the politician.
