”Transnistria is struggling like a dying fish on the bank. Everything that is artificial dies over time, tomorrow if not today. They can celebrate. We'll see what that Lenin's hut that smells of communism will do in about 10 years,” Acting President Mihai Ghimpu said on September 2, referring to the events held in Tiraspol to mark 20 years of the proclamation of the breakaway republic of Transnistria. “The ambassadors of Ukraine and Russia went to Transnistria probably because they have Ukrainian and Russian citizens there. They do not offer support to Transnistria as we know the official stances of Ukraine and Russia,” Mihai Ghimpu said, when asked to comment on the participation of ambassadors working in Chisinau in the festivities held in Tiraspol. Today, it is 20 years of the foundation of the secessionist republic in Moldova's eastern region. A military parade was staged in Tiraspol on this occasion. According to the agency “Novyi Reghion”, Russian Ambassador to Moldova Valery Kuzmin congratulated Transnistria on the anniversary in the name of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and promised to continue providing assistance to the population of the region.
