The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu said the so-called Council for Reforming the PL put forward Dorin Chirtoaca for the party leadership because they know that he will refuse as he is his nephew. He made the statement for a TV channel, IPN reports.
“The betrayal must be analyzed thoroughly. Today I was to attend the International Council of the Liberals. Everything shows that it was a scenario as they prepared everything in my absence. I will analyze the situation and give answers to all the questions. I don’t think that Dorin Chirtoaca is involved. This is excluded. They fielded Chirtoaca knowing that he will refuse as he is my nephew. They have a different plan,” said Mihai Ghimpu.
Dorin Chirtoaca was unavailable for comments.
The Ad-hoc Council for Reforming the PL demanded that the party should return to the negotiations and convene the Extraordinary Congress for promoting Dorin Chirtoaca to the post of PL chairman. The statement signed by 28 MPs, ministers, deputy ministers and members of the local organizations of the PL was made public in a news conference on April 12.
