The leader of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu denied the accusations made by the leaders of the Democratic Party (PDM) and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) concerning the blocking of the talks on the formation of a government coalition. He said that he will take part in a new round of talks at the head office of the PLDM in the evening of January 13. He made such statements over the phone during the program “In depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“There is no blockage! Maybe they are looking for a blockage so as to be able to negotiate with the Communists. The fact that they get on well does not mean that we must accept to discuss with the Communists. We are against ruling together with the Communists. There is no place for them at the joint negotiating table. There are three parties with three different programs and a joint program hasn’t been yet agreed,” said Mihai Ghimpu.
He also said that the PL is ready to renounce the post of head of state in exchange for the post of prosecutor general. “We either depoliticize these institutions or everyone is offered instruments for taking part in governance. They want everything – the main state posts, institutions and planes. It won’t do anymore,” stated the Liberal leader.
He noted that the invitation to the Party of Communists made by the leaders of the PLDM and PDM does not represent pressure exerted on the PL so as to make them accept concessions. “We want to make a change and the people are waiting for this change. We must reach a compromise so as to really implement the European values,” said Mihai Ghimpu.
