In Moldova there are two centers that take decisions at state level, chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said in the program “Interpol” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

According to Chimpu, the first center is formed by the leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Democratic Party (PDM), while the second center is at the Communist Party and is managed by Vladimir Voronin. “Voronin’s center takes decisions concerning the voting of laws. It depends on it whether particular bills of the PLDM and PDM are passed. The other center takes decisions concerning the country’s government. They control all the state institutions. The important decisions are taken not by the Government, Parliament, the head of state or other decision makers, but by the leaders of the majority parties, even if they do not hold executive posts,” he stated.

Speaking about the theft committed at Banca de Economii (BEM), Mihai Ghimpu expressed his conviction that some of the political leaders are involved in it. “Ilan Shor, no matter how astute he is, could not have committed such a theft alone. It’s clear that he had accomplices who protect him now. The fact that two functionaries were arrested, while another two were dismissed at a time when Ilan Shor wasn’t banned at least from leaving the country shows that the two decision-making centers are involved in this case,” said the Liberal leader.

Mihai Ghimpu rejected again the accusations made against the central bank. “The National Bank of Moldova informed Parliament, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Supreme Security Council, the National Anticorruption Center and the Security and Information Service about the illegalities committed at the BEM and in the banking system, but the necessary measures weren’t taken. It’s not excluded that these institutions received instructions not to become involved, while the central bank is not an investigation body,” he stated.
