The Liberal Party (PL) head Mihai Ghimpu said the Liberals from the party are constrained to join the reformation council. In a news conference, Mihai Ghimpu read a number of messages, saying they belong to Ion Hadarca, IPN reports.
A message says that the heads of the PL’s local organizations must join the reformation council. Otherwise, they will ‘sink’ as the party’s leader. As to the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, if he does not accept to become the chairman of the PL, he will lose his post after the referendum that those who were excluded from the PL will organize with the support of the PLDM and PSRM, stated Mihai Ghimpu.
According to Ghimpu, Ion Hadarca said that the Liberal Party might be headed by acting Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta. Mihai Ghimpu considers that if the ‘traitors’ hadn’t acted as they acted, the PLDM would have invited the Liberals to the talks as it would have had no choice. “These seven traitors allowed Filat to neglect the PL. They have 53 seats together with the traitors,” said the Liberal leader. He accused Vitalie Marinuta of having commercial interests, saying that after he was named to post he bought an apartment in Chisinau.
Mihai Ghimpu is convinced that all the attacks on the party come from Russia. Last November, Ion Hadarca had a discussion with ex-President Petru Lucinschi, who encouraged him to join the Democrats.
In the same news conference, the head of the Liberal Party’s local office in Costesti, Ialoveni, Tudor Grigorita said that those from the local organizations are affected by the situation in the PL. “We, those from the lower ranks, don’t know what is going on in the higher ranks. But we beg you, Mister Hadarca, to allow us to implement our projects in continuation as they benefit the people,” he stated.
The head of the Council for Reforming the PL Ion Hadarca said the accusations made by Mihai Ghimpu are ‘inventions’. He added he regrets the tonality and way in which his former party leader reacts.
