The leader of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu said he received congratulatory messages from the leaders of the ruling parties after the election results in Chisinau were made public. In a news conference on June 29, he stated that he also received an invitation to discussions, but didn’t specify from who and when the first round of discussions is to be held, IPN reports.
“It is a very important matter. On the one hand, there is the European course which is the present and future of our people, namely of those who voted the Liberal Party and our candidates, including the mayor general of Chisinau. On the other hand, there are the members of the party and the party itself and we must analyze things very attentively,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.
The leader of the PL said the party’s Political Bureau and then the National Council will be convened to take a decision. “I want us all to step on ground. The Liberals should no longer be accused of wanting a lot and of not making compromises. One thing I want is to hear that discussions are held only with the Liberals so that the situation witnessed after November 30, when an alliance was agreed in secret with the Communists, does not repeat,” stated Ghimpu.
Mihai Ghimpu also said that the PL does not want a government and a coalition to be formed in a slapdash way and will thus insist on its conditions. They will also demand that the media should be allowed to attend the discussions.
