Mihai Ghimpu: PSD does better in business, than in politics

Acting President Mihai Ghimpu Friday rejected the accusations of usurpation of power made by the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in a news conference earlier in the day, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mihai Ghimpu said he works in accordance with the legal Parliament’s decision, whereby he was named Speaker. His statements come after the PSD submitted an application to the Prosecutor General’s Office, accusing him of usurpation of power. “The PSD wants to pass the election threshold, but it will not be able to even if we decreased it. Do they even know what usurpation of state power is? The PSD does better in business than in politics,” Ghimpu said. PSD secretary general Sergiu Corobceanu said that Mihai Ghimpu started to usurp the power in Moldova on June 16, 2010 and maintains it by force, in breach of Article 78 of the Constitution, as he was to dissolve Parliament that day. The Acting President said he will decide himself when to dissolve the legislative body as the legislation does not specify a term.
